Dstreet is created for people who want to start investing but are uncertain and scared of the risks. People who would like to understand how investment works by making portfolios but not putting too much at risk. Dstreet caters to this audience by converting this experience in the form of fantasy gaming where you can learn while earning rewards. It also provides a social media platform to connect with other investors and an e-learning platform to help people learn about trading.
India has a large fraction of the population getting into trading but do not fully commit due to lack of knowledge, non-existent community and the risk involved. While there are multiple apps trying to solve these problems, none successfully provide users with all the features they want to make a confident decision in one seamless experience. Instead, they flip between multiple apps to search and cross check what they find on the others, which makes for a very clunky and time consuming task.
Dstreet brings all the three sections of investing and improves upon the user experience for all to solve user pain points. Gamifying the expereince of trading with low risk - high rewards, bringing together the community of investors and influencers and providing a platform to learn about everything related to trading.
Initial research focused on better understanding user’s needs related to fantasy gaming and understanding of market statistics related to trading.
What products exist related to fantasy gaming in trading?
How do users interact with existing products?
What are users current pain points with existing products?
Which features are essential to help users understand trading?
A series of in-depth interviews were then conducted on 5 participants to further identify pain points, frustrations, needs, and desires with existing products to determine how Dstreet could improve this experience.
All participants used a combination of multiple apps to learn about trading
Users value the ability to have all information regarding the game before entering
Different verticals of the super app should have easy navigation and not feel like different apps.
A place to learn about the basics and then immediately applying it makes it easy to grasp on that knowledge
Too much information on screen makes users feel overwhelmed, they'd like a more curated experience
Easy access to a community of similar users gives a sense of security
Competitive analysis was conducted to identify competitor's strengths and weaknesses to inform Dstreet's features and information structure.
After conducting user interviews, all the participants responses were synthesized to identity themes, opportunities, and features that Dstreet could focus and improve upon.
A persona was built based on the data collected to help drive decision making and keep the product focused on solving users pain points, frustrations, and goals.
The design process had different approaches at different stages, sometimes scribbling on table helped to bring an idea to life, whereas at times it was pencil and paper. And sometimes, it was straight up on Figma to help see the bigger picture. At times, it involved creating 20-25 designs for a single feature.
The primary user flow is the process of playing games and earning rewards, connecting on the social network and finding courses related to what they want to learn. Dstreet's simple information structure makes it easy to navigate and move through tasks.
Rough sketches were done to get my initial thoughts on paper and brainstorm new ideas for specific UI elements.
The year long process involved creating multiple ideations improving upon the earlier designs and creating simpler yet more effective UI elements.
A usability study was conducted to determine where improvements could be made and identify new ideas to satisfy user expectations, needs, and desires.
Flow of the game was unclear
